The most walkable neighborhood in Colorado SpringsHave you been downtown lately?

Almost a month ago, I worked with Colorado Springs Urban Intervention to hang nearly 100 pedestrian wayfinding signs in the core of downtown Colorado Springs.

The signs are still up and they’re still pointing the way to some of the coolest spots in our little city. The feedback has been pretty positive and I look forward to hearing about the Downtown Partnership’s plans for a more permanent solution to updating the drab old green wayfinding signs.

Why pedestrian signs?

Downtown is the most walkable neighborhood in Colorado Springs. There are countless cool things to do within a few minutes on foot no matter where you are downtown.
If you don’t spend a lot of time downtown, you might not know what’s there. If you do spend a lot of time in the area, you know you’re always discovering new spots.
Park and walk
Trouble finding parking is a common complain about downtown. We highlighted a few of the garages with our wayfinding signs. You’re almost never than a four-minute walk from a public parking garage downtown. It probably takes longer than that to get to the mall food court from the parking lot.
the signs can help people find convenient parking they didn’t realize was there.
